Buffet?

We have a couple and their 2 older children coming over for a get together on Sunday evening to celebrate my husbands birthday.

We also have 2 older children.

Is a buffet a no go with covid now do you think? Was thinking they and us have separate serving spoons etc.

And I cut things that need cutting beforehand?

It just seems like the easiest option to please everyone!

I’ve done two buffets since lockdown. And I’ve been to a bbq where we helped ourselves to salads. At the bbq we were asked to bring our own cutlery and plates/glasses. For my buffets, I used disposable cutlery, plates and glasses.
If you don’t have enough servings spoons for the different household, ask guests to wear a plastic glove on the hand that they use for serving themselves.

Thank you @Ricekrispie22 for your reply :)

Oooh a glove might work Grin

And yes, I could use disposable cutlery etc.

Gloves are only as good as the person's self control not to touch their face with them on.

As it's two families only, I wouldn't faff around with gloves, I would put out a serving set for them and a serving set for your family like you suggested. And if you want you could do that thing they do in hotels and put each dish out twice meeting in the middle, very fancy Grin

Make everyone wear a glove and do a Michael Jackson kareoke before they can go to the buffet,

Grin

I hope they like food because I have bought enough to feed their families family Blush. We could do the middle serving idea Grin
