Lockdown has turned me into a bit of a fish finger (and potato waffle) addict but i'm just wondering if there are other sorts of frozen fishy things that I'm missing out on? I don't eat meat ...

Scampi

Birds Eye Cod fish fingers. Though people here will disapprove.

Also Youngs Gastro Cheese and Leek Fish Bake

Not frozen but in the fresh fish section, Tesco do battered haddock goujons which are yum. Sometimes I put them in a wrap with chips and mushy peas. Lush.

Another vote for scampi. ....top fishy bites really...
Lidl do various frozen fish things..

Longdistance · 23/07/2020 01:08

Lidl’s Cod fish fingers are nice.

Iceland do nice fish goussions (sp?)

I love a fish finger butty with a fried egg inside 🤤

Longdistance · 23/07/2020 01:11

Fish goujons, ffs, I can’t spell 😩 should go to sleep.

Bluesheep8 · 27/07/2020 16:57

Frozen cod or haddock fillets. I make a butterbean, smoked paprika and tomato 'stew' then pop the fish on top and cook from frozen for 20 minutes. It's delish!

linerforlife · 27/07/2020 17:15

The breaded cod or haddock fillets are like a giant fishfinger Grin and v good in a sandwich!

CleanHankie · 28/07/2020 23:13

Young's make an Admiral Fish Pie which I do love. Not as nice as a homemade fish pie but on a par with a fish finger sarnie in terms of "sloppy tea". They also do a Tempura battered lemon & something fish which is yum.
We've discovered recently that scampi (which is lovely) is even better in a wrap with grated carrot, salad and dollops of salsa and guacamole.

worriedmumofdd · 28/07/2020 23:20

Yellowfin sole fillets from Iceland - my friend is a massive fish snob but absolutely loves these!

miraloma · 28/07/2020 23:21

Iceland salt and vinegar fish bites! Oh they are amazing!

Bellossom · 28/07/2020 23:22

Iceland do a few great ones I like thyroid pakora and tandoori ones in sandwiches/wraps

ODFOx · 28/07/2020 23:24

Something I discovered while lockdown shopping for the olds at Asda: smoked basa. Delicious!

Holothane · 28/07/2020 23:39

I love fish fingers scampi and Morrison’s salmon, prawn cod fish pie.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 28/07/2020 23:42

Tescos value boil in the bag style white fish in sauce. Is gorgeous with rice and veg. Guilty pleasure

bookmum08 · 28/07/2020 23:44

Iceland have a whole range of fish bites things with different flavours - southern fried etc. They also sell Birds Eye jumbo fish fingers that are battered instead of breaded. I like them. I often have them in a wrap with salad.

Linemanfort · 28/07/2020 23:45

I use the really really cheap frozen fillets ie the value packs to make fish curry. Especially fish mollee. You can cook from frozen so it's actually a very quick meal. Otherwise, if you cba to cook, aldi dusted basa fillets with lemon.

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 28/07/2020 23:45

Usually buy fresh, but... fish cakes! Nearly a meal in themselves, just add vegetables!

Linemanfort · 28/07/2020 23:50

Oh yeah and hot and sour soup using frozen fillets is good too. Tin of pineapple chunks, tin of tomatoes, fish sauce, rice wine vinegar, spoon of tamarind paste and a bit of sugar (grate a chunk of palm sugar if you're feeling posh), no complicated techniques, it's one pot cooking, although you can poach an egg to sit on top if you're feeling fancy.

Anyone else agog now to find out what thyroid pakora is? Grin
