Hello Bakers,
I'm baking a Red Velvet cake for my son's birthday. The recipe calls for 5 tablespoons of red food colouring. I have got concentrated red food colouring (Wiltons). How much food colouring do you think I should use? 5 tablespoons of that sounds like waaaay too much!

In my experience it does take loads. Probably the whole tube!

If it's the gel stuff then it won't be 5tbs of liquid though you may need to add a little water/milk to stop it being too thick

This website gives a clue as to the colour of the mixture that you're looking for, which might help ..

I'd chuck in a couple of lipsticks too, and a squirt of Tom Ketchup.
