Spare ribs cooking time?

JulesM73 · 02/07/2020 12:57

I was in the local butchers and ended buying Chinese spare ribs and chilli coated spare ribs. Looking on line there are suggested cooking time from 25 mins to 4 hours!
Can anyone confirm what’s the best temperature and length of time for tender ribs? Thanks

I don't know how big or meaty your ribs are, but generally the lower the temp, the longer the time. I would probably plump for 150c for 2.5 hours, covered with foil for the first 2 hours and then no foil for the last 15-30 mins. If you want to gild the lily you could stick them on the bbq or under the grill for a last 15 mins or until the outsides are a bit charred...

I agree, long, low temp and slow! I do pork ribs in the pressure cooker. Yours are already flavoured, but I add some hoisin sauce and either 1/2 can beer, cider or water. They always come out falling off the bone.
