Group camping treat ideas

Hi, some of us are taking our Yr 6 children (all in the same bubble) on a camping night to celebrate the end of primary. Food wise, we are having pizzas delivered to make it simple. However, we do have a fire pit so we are thinking of doing marshmallows, but does anyone have any ideas of nice treats we could do with minimal fuss? I was thinking of hot chocolate, but that will be hard with only limited kettle/stove provision! Would love to hear your ideas to try and make this special!

if you get a campfire grill grate (the campsite might have some available to hire, or you can get a second hand one on the likes of ebay or gumtree), then you will be able to make hot chocolate over the campfire. Just heat a saucepan of water until boiling, take off the boil and stir in the hot chocolate powder, and then pour into cups.

Waffle cones, filled with mini marshmallows, chocolate buttons and some fruit like strawberries or banana. Wrap in a couple of layers of foil and place on grill above fire. Goes all gooey and melty. Can top with squidgy cream of you wish!

ideas sounds great! I'll check about the grate for the firepit - would be lovely to have hot chocolate!

You can make s'mores with the marshmallows: I use digestive or two hobnob biscuits and sandwich the cooked marshmallow in between them (chocolate side facing in) Grin

Campfire nachos.

Take a double layer of tin foil, add a couple of packets of tortilla chips, a jar of salsa and a load of grated cheese. Put on grill until cheese starts to melt, kids can just eat with their fingers straight from the tin foil

S’mores
Slice up marshmallows and sandwhich between. 2 chocolate digestives (chocolate side facing the middle). Wrap in foil and place on the grate for a few minutes to melt.

S’mores bananas
Cut the skin and flesh of a banana lengthways, but not all the way to the ends. Stuff in marshmallows, broken chilovlete biscuits, broken chocolate etc.
Wrap in foil. Place in fire or in grate for a few mins for everything to melt.

If you are doing damper bread make sure to bring garlic butter for dipping. Yum Grin

Get a foil roasting tray and fill with squares of chocolate. Nestle into the dying embers of the fire/bbq. Chocolate will melt then you can scoop into individual cups for dunking marshmallows, shortbread finders, strawberries etc
