I have a jar of Tahini paste that I have no idea what to do with.
Do you have any recipe ideas please?

EasyPeasyHappyCheesy · 23/06/2020 19:51

Tahini honey lemon juice mix as a salad dressing

Just nice on toast?

Yes to the hummus.

Baba ghanoush! It's a heavenly spread made with aubergine and tahini.

Thanks for these ideas, they all sound fab.

I'd wondered about just putting it on toast @Popskipiekin and thought that was just me haha, I'll give that a go.

I've got some chickpeas and am going to have a go at making hummus today I think but will definitely be trying the other recommendations too :)

I mix it with apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, bit of dijon, seasoning and black onion seeds for a salad dressing. Sometimes add a bit of nutritional yeast too. Makes a nice change from a vinaigrette

Todayisanewday75 · 24/06/2020 07:17

If it’s too thick add a bit of water

TheSweetestHalleluja · 24/06/2020 12:00

Sounds good, will be trying all of these :)

I've just made up some hummus and then used the aquafaba from the chick peas to make chocolate mousses which are now setting in the fridge. Yum!

Tahini sauce - i use tahini, soy sauce, pepper and a bit of lemon juice to taste - great on pasta or veg. Bit like a cheese sauce but lighter.

It makes a lovely dressing on roasted broccoli/PSB if you add lemon, a bit of oil, garlic and salt. That's also a fantastic recipe in the Green Roasting Tin book for roasted cauliflower with chickpeas, spring greens, lemon & tahini.

ScribblingMilly · 24/06/2020 12:14

If you can get grape molasses (the one I get is Turkish and called pekmez), it's lovely swirled 50/50 with tahini. You mop it up with toast or bread.

I also like to mix tahini with lemon juice, garlic & salt (and water or olive oil to get the right consistency) and drizzle it onto greens. Goes with fish or chicken.

So glad I asked, had no idea you can do so much with it!
I love the idea of making the tahini sauce to put on pasta. The hummus went down well with DH and the kids thankfully.

Mix with honey 50:50 and spread on toast or crusty bread.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 29/06/2020 17:59

Sounds good! May try that tomorrow morning :)

Cook cubes of sweet potato in the oven, drizzle on sumac and some chilli seeds - yum!

AgnesNaismith · 29/06/2020 18:00

Sorry drizzle on tahini (sumac on potatoes optional)

This is so nice.

And it's really nice just on top of a jacket sweet potato too with salad.
