Kitchen Aid

Soo my mum bought me a gorgeous pink kitchen aid when I got married!
Long story short we are in a rented flat for probably another 4 months, I’ve had kitchen aid for a year and I’ve used it twice, mainly because our oven overheats really quickly and it’s almost impossible to use it. It definitely wouldn’t be suitable for baking but I can get away with oven chips occasionally. I don’t want to alert my landlord that it’s broken!

So just wondering if anyone has any recipes for no bake, hob or microwave dishes I can make with it as I’d really like to use it!

I use my kitchen aid very often, and the non baking uses I have for it are:

  • pasta: I use the dough hook to make the pasta dough and I also have the roller and the extruder attachments
  • whipping: mashed potato, cream, egg whites for mousse and souffle
  • ice cream: I have the ice cream bowl and attachment

You can get a mincer attachment and make your own mince and sausages

However, the bulk of what I use mine for are for breads (bagels, brioche and other enriched doughs) and other baked goods.

Why on earth don't you want to tell your landlord that your oven has broken?

Marshmallows. No baking and impossible without a stand mixer.

Kitchenaid lemonade is also the best way to make lemonade.

@2007Millie we are due to move out in a few months, and she been notoriously rubbish at fixing things, and I just cant be bothered with the grief of her accusing us of breaking it! She is also going to be refurbishing when we move out so I know she isnt going to replace it for us!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Quite a few I hadn't thought of. Cant wait to get back to baking again though!!

An overheating oven sounds potentially very good for pizza making? I also make homemade doughballs to have with garlic butter and do both in my pretend KitchenAid using the dough hook.

Does yours have a sieve? Mine doesn't, but mum's Kenwood does, so we'd use that to make nice purées and 'jus'.

I do mainly use mine for baked goods, and actually really mainly for things that need kneeding, or a really big sponge. If I'm just doing a two egg lemon drizzle it's less faff to use the handheld electric whisk, which is definitely my most used kitchen gadget.

@karmakameleon could you share the lemonade recipe? I'm intrigued!

Mominatrix · 12/06/2020 07:49

I found this recipe for stand mixer lemonade.

Yes, thankfully the recipe I use. Cover the kitchenaid with a tea towel as there is potential for sticky lemon juice to splatter everywhere.
