I have been looking for some information/references as to the potential issues if a baby is weaned prior to 6 months. Can anyone help?

I thought it was in connection with the rise in allergies in general but could be completely wrong. I have recently started weaning my dd (began at 19 weeks) but taking things slowly. My ds began solids at 16 weeks.

It's better for your health, Gomez, if you keep up with exclusive breastfeeding (I assume you are br'fding). Delays return of your periods & that is generally a good thing for your health... Reduces risks of various cancers. Kellymom site gives reasons not to introduce solids be4 6 months, in baby's best interests. Things about the gut being ready, maintaining the milk supply, better iron absorption (?), lower risk of food allergies in the baby.

Thanks for the reference Zebra. Just off to have a nose around.

Cheers
