Anyone ever had brown spots inside pre-made puff pastry?

Opened a block of Jus-Rol puff pastry today, rolled it out and there were brown patches where I'd rolled - when I peeled it apart a bit it was quite brown inside and smelt a bit off. I usually get the pre-rolled stuff not the block so wondered what it might be?
I chucked that quarter out anyway and the rest of the block seemed fine.

It's been sitting in the fridge for a couple of weeks (unwrapped) but was a few days away from the Best Before date.

Do you actually mean unwrapped, or did you mean unopened? If you do mean unwrapped then that's probably why, it must be used within a couple of days of opening.

If you meant unopened then it's not right. Were they patches or tiny specks? I had tiny brown specks on mine too the other day, I suspected it was on the turn but ate it anyway and we were fine. I have had quite a few cases of supermarket foods going off before the expiry date lately, very frustrating!

I noticed this a couple of weeks ago with a roll of Tesco ready to use puff pastry, it was unopened and within the use by date but had brown specks in it which made me wary of using it so I threw it away. I had a second roll in the fridge which had an even longer date on it but that also had brown specks.
I’ve bought and used another pack since then and that was fine.

I'm pretty sure this is mould. I had one like this and Googles it and ended up th rowing it away.

Well if it was unwrapped it was probably the start of mould why didn't you cover it or put it in the freezer.

Doh, I meant unopened. Still completely wrapped!

There were a few specks but one large patch about 1.5 inches big and when I dug into it it looked almost like the inside of a cinnamon roll, brown bits. It seemed perfectly fine when I opened it but once I started rolling these bits were noticeable, maybe they were tiny and got stretched out?

I did google it but couldn't find anything so thought I'd ask on here!

On my Asda pastry I says that dark spots may be present and are pieces of bran naturally occurring in the flour and wil not have any adverse effect
