Has any one frozen instant mashed potato eg Smash? Does it taste ok when defrosted?

An elderly neighbour was telling me her family had given her a box of Smash before lockdown (as they live too far away to visit they dropped off a massive food parcel last time they came to visit). Neighbour was telling me she can't get it right (too dry/too sloppy). I know she has a freezer, so I was going to offer to make it up for her - I could improve it a bit with butter and seasoning - and put in e.g. yoghurt pots to freeze. Or I could use in a meal for her as I do occasionally make up meals for her. But I don't want to offer to do that if the Smash doesn't freeze well. Anyone done this themselves please? Thanks

A bag of frozen mash potato is about a pound and comes in easy to portion pellets. I'd just buy her a couple of those when I'm next out. It would taste miles better.

I can make mash myself for her to freeze, but neither of us like waste so was wanting to use up the instant stuff as well

Could you experiment with one of the packets, freeze the mash, and see how it turns out?
If ok, then you could freeze lots more; if not, you haven't wasted loads.

Thanks @FawnDrench, yes good idea, was just trying to speed up the process by asking. Am thinking I might just make some mash and let her think it was the instant stuff
