So I have decided to try clean eating two meals a day to get into it. I've lost 1st 7lb since christmas - but now feel stuck in a rut/to be honest bored and am forgetting to fill it in every day.

Yesterday in the shop I order tesco oats and followed the following idea this morning;

oats
milk
banana mashed up
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt

obv all stirred in togther in a pan.

It wasn't great...the texture which I assume was from the banana was like rice pudding which I don't like.

Please let me know your yummy ideas!

I like oats for starters, and prefer to not mix everything all together, but served on top. Applesauce is nice, honey and pecans, and my current fave rhubarb and fruit compote.

I love porridge.
I always make it with half milk and half water and a pinch of salt. It gives it a lovely creamy texture. If you're able to soak them in the milk and water for half an hour then warm through it's really delicious.
Toppings - (on top not mixed in)

  1. Fruit. Eg sliced banana and some blueberries or Stewed fruit eg rhubarb with a bit of coconut sugar; apple with some cinnamon; frozen berries with a bit of maple syrup heated through
  2. Seeds. Sunflower and pumpkin are my favourite
  3. Very small handful of Nuts or a tablespoon of nut butter. I love almond butter
  4. Drizzle of date syrup.

I have this most mornings.

Have you tried overnight oats? Loads of recipe ideas online. I quite often make with oats, splash of milk or oat milk, dollop of 0%fat Greek yoghurt, handful of frozen berries. Sometimes a bit of maple syrup.

I like mine with water, apple and cinnamon then add blueberries, Greek yoghurt and flaked almonds once it’s done.

Thanks for the ideas..

It sounds like I made a couple of mistakes. Firstly I used all milk (will try half milk half water) and also fruit on top instead of mixed in.

I'll give them a go tomorrow. I managed to get through it this morning and it definetly filled me up more than anything else. I went on a bike ride after and didn't have to stop anywhere for a snack.. :)

Some toppings are nicer added right before you eat it - make the porridge, pop toppings on - rather than all in the pan or microwave.
