Brownies - but no baking paper!

Was planning on baking brownies this afternoon, but DH forgot to get baking paper, can I use foil or would I be best just smearing butter on the bottom & sides of the tray? I haven’t baked brownies before!

I've used foil many times, it works well.

Great, shiny side down or up? And do I need to but any oil or butter on it?!

I just grease the tin really well and never had any problems. You could grease and lightly flour too.

Never used paper. Just grease it and lightly flour as suggested.
