I overestimated how much white sauce I'd need in my lasagne, but cant think of what to do with several cups of it leftover? Any ideas?

Cauliflower cheese. White wine sauce with chicken

BaronessBomburst · 28/04/2020 19:31

Cauliflower cheese tomorrow.
You can put white sauce in the fridge. It'll set but goes runny again if you reheat it gently. DM used to do it all the time.

Chowder
Potato gratin / dauphinois
Mornay sauce
Mac n cheese

GrouchyKiwi · 28/04/2020 19:31

It freezes well too.

CatToddlerUprising · 28/04/2020 19:31

Pie filling, moussaka

WillowySnicket · 28/04/2020 19:32

Macaroni cheese
Broccoli/cauliflower bake (add lots of cheese!)
A kind of tariflette/dauphinois: potatoes, bechemal and bacon, all baked until squishy. YUM.

Daisydoesnt · 28/04/2020 19:34

freeze it! Then all you need to do next time is reheat gently, add some grated cheese and bung it on top of cooked cauliflower.

woodencoffeetable · 28/04/2020 19:35

it freezes well.
other than that - what pp say. mac&cheese, cauli&cheese, gammon with white sauce.

or mix sauce with a couple of eggs, pile leftovers in an oven dish pour over sauce, top with grated cheese and bake until set

TeddyIsaHe · 28/04/2020 19:38

Freeze it! I always make a huge batch and freeze flat in freezer bags, so when I need a white/cheese sauce it takes minutes and basically no whisking.

You can do alsoets with it, my Shotton to that above would be Tuna pasta bake.

Or

I used my left over cheese sauce from Sunday with veg, mash potato and bread crumbs to make bubble and squeek for lunch yesterday. Was yum!!
