Panic bought pastry

I appear to have panic bought 2 packs of ready rolled puff pastry and some ready rolled pizza dough Grin

I'd appreciate ideas of what we can't do with them. Thinking I might make myself a fake Greggs pasty

Home made eccles cakes, made with brown sugar. Had these last weekend and they are amazing.

Make a pie! Alternatively, pastry freezes really well.

Cut squares of puff pasty and out tomato purées cheese pesto and bake. Yum

circusintown · 22/04/2020 00:29

Fab ideas. I like the sound of a little cheesy pesto bite

@LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett the freezing is handy to know. I think it's got a couple of weeks date on but we might be pied out by then (as if)

Pizza pinwheels- I watered down some tomato purée a tiny bit and added some dried herbs before spreading it on puff pastry, sprinkled on some cheese, added cooked chicken and rolled up. Cut into inch wide pieces and baked. Had then for lunch with some salad.

The Jamie Oliver upside down roasted veg tart/pizza thing is amazing!!

Blueuggboots · 22/04/2020 06:58

Reverse puff pastry pizza is the proper name!!

FredaFrogspawn · 22/04/2020 07:00

I read you can use it instead of bread in a toasted sandwich maker but not sure as I’ve never tried it!

Cheese straws! (Bonus points for adding marmite!)

RusholmeRuffian · 22/04/2020 09:07

Another vote for cheese and marmite twists

Gemma2019 · 22/04/2020 09:13

I made sausage, cheese and baked bean melts with puff pastry the other day.

Chocolate croissants...... so easy and really nice!

With the puff pastry, what about Pissaladiere. Cook down onions with some brown sugar for about 20 mins, lowest possible heat. Cut a border round the pastry, put the onions on it, lattice anchovies over the onions and put olives in the centre of each diamond shape. Bake for 20-30 mins at 180. Service with a rosé if you have one.

My kids have puff pastry tray bake regularly- pesto smeared on the base, cheese and ham/chorizo, fold up edges, bake for 15 minutes. They love it.

Sausage plaits - basically fancy sausage rolls.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 24/04/2020 01:54

Puff pastry tarts are a regular in our house. Goats cheese, beetroot and red onion is my favourite: basically just bung it all on the pastry and bake.

How weird, this is exactly what DH bought the other day! And I had made two quiches the week before already! (Tuna & broccoli and ham & mushroom).

I used leftover roast chicken, added vegs and white sauce and topped with pastry for an easy pie and also made vegetarian sausage rolls (nuts and cheese filling). Very easy and yummy!

You could also make an apple or plum tart.

I'm hungry now :)
