Just wanted to let some of you struggling with online food home delivery slots if you dont mind what brand you get or an exact description of food inside your hamper style boxes then go to morrisons.co.uk they're doing a fab deal on food boxes for £35.00 meat or vegetarian boxes, ready meal boxes etc for a similar price. And you get it next day home delivery, you dont get an option on a time when you order it but you get a message the next day with a time frame so u know wen its coming. Mine was brill and arrived today after ordering yesterday morning, with no hassle and you get your moneys worth. I just left a note on my door saying 'please leave the parcel in front of my door many thanks 😀' everyday essentials in there too, like bread, loo roll, butter, potatoes, milk etc.

Seems to be bread with no cheese in the vegetarian box and it's not clear whether it's vegetarian or vegan. I'm also presuming the baked beans will be the high sugar, high salt version.
I've heard about these boxes and made a note for myself to use them if I have to self-isolate, but otherwise, I don't think things have gone bad enough that I have to use a box of things I haven't chosen.
They're also for two people so I wonder whether the veg would go off if I ordered it just for me.
I agree it's a good option to know about.

trinity0097 · 19/04/2020 04:50

It wouldn’t be enough for two for a week, but was a good stop gap for me when I got one. Was well packaged and cold stuff cold! Needs eggs though!

Someaddedsugar · 19/04/2020 06:41

Aldi are also doing a box of 22 items for £24.99 - I don’t think there’s any chilled items but lots of cupboard staples.

Willows76 · 19/04/2020 11:49

I agree with all three posts and thanks about mentioning Aldi on here good to know 😀

Just seen another thread about this. The lady got a cucumber and cabbage among her veg. Really not appetising for me. Emergency only.

ClientQ · 19/04/2020 12:29

What's wrong with cabbage and cucumber?

Nanasueathome · 19/04/2020 12:31

Marks and Spencer are also doing food boxes

Willows76 · 19/04/2020 12:55

You can look on M&S website
There are several boxes to choose from
Most expensive is a meat box at £45

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/04/2020 13:02

I have the Morrison's meat box arriving today.

Nanasueathome · 19/04/2020 13:05

The M&S meat box is just meat...it’s £3.99 delivery charge and available from 24th April

Iwalkinmyclothing · 19/04/2020 13:06

My mum and dad got one, they were really disappointed and said they'd only do it again if they were utterly desperate. They described it as a total rip off :(

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/04/2020 13:07

The one Ive ordered is just meat too.

Willows76 · 19/04/2020 13:12

Its basic meat box but with a few staples thrown in apart from eggs, needs eggs. It'll get two of you through a week if your very careful, and its being delivered people.

Thanks for details @nanasueathome

Morrisons, Aldi and M&S anymore companies doing food boxes for home delivery?

I ordered one of the Morrison’s ones for my aunt and I think it’s a brilliant scheme. Aunt was really pleased, quantities were generous and I think hats off to Morrison’s for coming up with this scheme. Yes, it’s not as “nice” as a online delivery where you choose all the items but it can be delivered to far more people and cover areas supermarkets don’t deliver to.

RhymingRabbit3 · 19/04/2020 13:22

A lot of local places do food boxes now. Our local farm shop, for example, and a few food wholesalers. Worth having a look on Facebook as it's great to support local businesses if you can.

rottiemum88 · 19/04/2020 13:30

The Morrison's boxes have been around for weeks now, this isn't new information 🤷🏼‍♀️

Gwenhwyfar · 19/04/2020 13:30

"What's wrong with cabbage and cucumber?"

Cucumber I just don't like. Even people who do like it, would probably want it with other salad veg, no? Not just to add to mince or something.
Cabbage, I just find it quite horrible unless cooked by a good chef and even living alone, I dont' want to be in the same room as myself having eating a whole cabbage.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/04/2020 14:08

Well Rottiemum, its the first time Ive managed to order one.
I'll post photos of the contents when it arrives for anyone who is interested, I've also ordered one of the free government boxes this week as my letter just arrived on Friday.

ferntwist · 19/04/2020 14:50

Cabbages and cucumbers are great staples. The cabbage is an excellent base for a soup and a cucumber I would just munch for a snack or put in a cheese sandwich for extra freshness, vitamins and fibre.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/04/2020 15:33

Id use the cucumber as a snack eith sweet chilli sauce.
I like cabbage so would happily eat that.
Mind you, I cant stand celery or peppers so fair enough that someone doesn't like other veg.

Glenthebattleostrich · 19/04/2020 15:36

I sent one to my mum and dad and they were very happy with it.

My aunt in law was very disappointed with the M&S one she got. Not sure which one she chose

gluteustothemaximus · 19/04/2020 15:36

Ordered the morrisons one, was fantastic. Clearly I must be desperate and not fussy Confused
