onions
mushrooms
halved cherry toms
fresh chilis
grated carrot
garlic

If you finely dice carrots, onions and celery and fry them very gently for 10 mins til soft before starting that is always good, then you put tomatoes in (obv) and mushrooms, that is loads of veggies!

MamaG · 14/09/2007 13:23

And, strange as it may sound, a can of drained, pineapple chunks (in juice, not syrup) also make for an interesting addition.

Nemo2007 · 14/09/2007 13:32

Nemo - I don't think they are necessarily authentic but I always use them. In fact I must got to co-op on way back from school to get some for my chilli....

Nemo2007 · 14/09/2007 13:45

well done with mushrooms and onions, am also doing mini baked potatos rice and tacos with cheese and salsa...it has been years[pre ds] since I had anyone over to eat.

or garlic mushrooms on top?>
mmmmmm

sunflowervalley · 14/09/2007 14:06

I make a chilli bake, which is basically your cooked chill at the bottom of the dish with cooked sliced red cabbage on top of that and then mix together breadcrumbs, grated cheese and 2 tesps of grain mustard and place on top.

Cook in the oven on 190 for approx 25-30 mins until the top is brown and crunchy.

elasticbandstand · 14/09/2007 14:06

parnips add a lovely sweet flavour

popsycal · 14/09/2007 14:46

put a good shake of cinamon in
yum

MamaG · 17/09/2007 08:47

nemo - yes

TerryStealthPolarBear · 17/09/2007 08:56

I personally wouldn't put mushrooms in, but don't think anything terrible will happen if you do Carrot and mushrooms, IMO, go better in a bolognaise
But I do put celery, onion, peppers in. In fact I usually make a vegi one with mixed beans and chick peas which is lovely.
