American Style BBQ ideas

It's DP's birthday next week and I had planned to take him to a fantastic BBQ joint we'd been to before, which obviously isn't happening now.

I've ordered a 1.7kg brisket joint and 375g of baby back ribs. I've never cooked either before and hoping someone has a brilliant idea of how to bring a Louisiana BBQ to my kitchen with these ingredients?

I would just buy a barbecue sauce for the ribs cook on low for a couple of hours covered in foil until the meat is soft enough to start to fall off the bone then remove foil and turn up the heat to reduce the sauce and thicken, basting occasionally. I always do them this way in hoisin sauce.

Try Pinterest for authentic recipes. I did this one for ribs a few years ago - was amazing but it's a Vermont recipe rather than Louisiana

Maybe look at American cooks for recipes like Martha Stewart?
