Can I use salmon that I froze 6 months ago?

I got a fillet of salmon out of the freezer this morning. I had frozen it from fresh in March (date on the packet) I've defrosted it and it looks a bit weird (the texture and colour), it smells OK. It is OK to eat?

You are supposed to only freeze fish for one month but I have eaten salmon from freezer many times which has been in there far longer than that probably even a year or two , it may have discoloured due to temp but be fine to eat. It is up to you, I would but there will be plenty on here who wouldn't!

I am still fine absolutely &%%$ fine......

3 month cut off point for fishies methinks...

It says one month on the packet however I am inclined to think that the quality might deteriorate rather than it suddenly become poisionous?

I agree with you Cardy, just won't taste as wonderful

it's only to go into fish cakes - I'll give it a go.
