Preparing for apple chutney and jam-making bonanza - please explain how to seal jars

Have got wax circles and non-metallic lids. What, exactly, do I do with them? Anything else needed to go on top/seal (other than decorative bits)?

Thank you

Fill the jars up to the top, place wax circles on top of jam. Screw on the lids when cooled. That's it!

Thank you, Duchess. Didn't realise it was so easy peasy. Have heard more complicated mutterings.

Great. Off to dream about jam ...

Don't you screw the lids on when the jam is red hot, then when it cools, the amount of air reduces and therefore seals the lid? That's what gives them the "pop" when you open shop bought ones, I thought.
