Anyone got any good recipes for white cabbage? We’ve had a veg box delivered that has a massive one in and other than adding strips to salad, my imagination is failing me!

Braise it slowly as you would red cabbage. Good with sausages, roast pork etc.

Best cabbage salad recipe!
Shred cabbage (and shred 1 carrot if you have one)
Heat up 2 TBS of sunflower oil.
Pour over shredded veg.
Mix lemon juice or vinegar of your choice with salt, a TSP sugar, pour over and massage it into the cabbage.
Chill in fridge for at least an hour.

Then 'customise' it. Add fresh chilli, coriander, mint and peanuts to accompany south East Asian food.

Dill and finely chopped gherkin for central European.

Fresh lemon and tahini for a creamy slaw.

Coleslaw? Nigella has some good recipes for dressing. Do you have any maple syrup - her New Orleans coleslaw is lovely, the dressing is mayonnaise, yogurt/buttermilk, cider vinegar & maple syrup. Or make a mildly curry flavoured dressing for a retro coleslaw experience.

Otherwise, stir fry?

White cabbage keeps for a very long time, so you don’t need to eat it all at once.

Sounds good @forkfun. Shame I don’t have a cabbage!

Stir frys. Soups. Cole slaw.
Great for bulking out. Keeps a long time compared to other veg - useful in these circs.

If you like Stilton, then simmer the white cabbage till still just al dente and stir in butter, crumbled Stilton and black pepper (but no salt because it will be salty enough). It's delicious and any leftovers make a great base for soup.

Bit over indulgent but,
Slice into thick chunks, braise in butter turning gently, dissolve half a veg stock cube in enough hot water to cover just about half way up cabbage, simmer until stock reduced, drizzle over approximately 110-150 ml cream, simmer a little longer until a reduced sauce left. Eat on it's own or as a side dish.

I had the same last week. I made Coleslaw, roasted cabbage with cumin as a side for curry night (really tasty) and tonight it's bubble and squeak to use it up.

I like coleslaw with white cabbage but also shredded parsnip, apple, red cabbage, fennel, turnip etc. Dress with an oil base dressing with a bit of honey or maple syrup and some toasted nuts.

I love it with a roast - just chopped, steamed and then stir through a generous knob of butter, salt & pepper.
