Always liked his recipes but never him. However I'm really enjoying his Channel 4 programme this week; my chicken curry turned out divine (first time I'd tried charring the chicken breasts first), I even did that little victory dance when I tasted it Grin

I haven't got ch4 and don't watch much TV anyway, but I've been following him on Instagram. I'm hoping he's got some ideas for pastry because I want to make a pie but I don't want to use all my butter for it. I've never really made pie and the one time I did, I used filo sheets.

I'm stuck on what to do with two chicken legs. Yesterday we had chicken fried rice and the day before we had fajitas. So thinking of pie today but I've never made pastry before.

Recommend looking up Jack Monroe on Twitter

Why do her pictures look like she's cooking in a petrol station public toilet?

For your chicken legs, are they drumsticks or whole legs? If whole legs I’d suggest a tagine or oven bake with lemons/olives/garlic/herbs, possibly potatoes or rice too. Pastry will take a lot of butter. But if you have potatoes you could do a mash topping instead, or sliced potatoes. Depending on how many people you need to feed you could do fried chicken.

They are whole legs. I've found this pastry recipe that uses oil instead of butter so I might give this a go www.thespruceeats.com/easy-oil-pie-crust-recipe-304979

Oh cool, good luck with it!
