Can I still make braised red cabbage?

No juice or vinegar except malt.

And limited spices.

My lockdown cupboard isn't great

Have you any pickles in the cupboard that you can 'steal' the vinegar from eg gherkins. Now's the time to use up weird Christmas gift food.Grin

Do you have any lemon juice?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/04/2020 13:56

Duh, sorry, I didn't read your OP properly. I'd give it a go with some of the malt vinegar, maybe less to start with and then see how it tastes.

I can’t help but I’ve never heard of braised red cabbage and love the sound of a cabbage/apple combo. How do you make this?

Here's a recipe for red cabbage and apple which specifies malt vinegar rather than red wine vinegar

You can use the malt vinegar. Or anything acidic, cider or wine if you have some. It is mostly there to stop the cabbage turning blue.

Orange juice? Apple juice or cider?
