Ideas with lentils for toddler

Hello,
I am looking for recipes with lentils that are approved by your toddlers. I love lentils, they're filling, cheap and healthy but we usually have them in curry and my 2 year old isn't a big fan.
Ideas welcome! Thank you!

Cottage pie, lasagna, spaghetti bolognese.

Put them in small pot with lid and give them a shake?

Red lentil soup - with carrots, leeks, onion, celery, garlic, tinned toms and veg stock - very tasty, healthy and filling!

I make a cheats kind of cassoulet with sausages, lentils, lardons, tomatoes, carrots and lots of herbs. Tastes delicious and my kids love it.

Soup. Dahl?

I used to squash them before giving my son his curry. As you stir to cool just squash them and mix in. He never noticed and then when he decided he liked chickpeas and wanted his meal to look like ours I didn't have to bother anymore.

Mine loved this. Definitely doesn't need potatoes to serve with.

It's even better if you can cook it on a low heat for a lot longer

Freezes well for

lentil soup

I learned the hard way that it's best to ensure that lentils don't make up too much of a meal, iyswim. they contain so much fibre too much can be too strong for a toddler's digestive system. my dd got v bad constipation for a few months, which in hindsight I attribure to too many lentils

Lentil nuggets all the way here!

Coffeenofilter · 21/03/2020 21:18

My toddler is SO gassy atm. Lentils for the last 4 days...(I bulk cooked but don't have freezer space, thanks to tiny freezer...). I'm thinking I might never cook with lentils again if this is the effect it has!

FL59 · 24/03/2020 11:58

@AtleastitsnotMonday the nuggets look great! Just put them in the oven and suddenly have a major doubt -it only said to soak the lentils, so i didn't precook them, is this correct? I'm worried about them being raw even after 25 minutes in the oven.

Thanks for the advice , I am not the greatest cook as you can see!
