Can anyone recommend any food colourings that are bright but not too toxic?

Beetroot, blueberries, carrots, red cabbage, saffron, turmeric.

Thanks but I am not THAT worried about toxicity. Little tubes of e numbers fine for me. Any recomendations?

Nothing that you buy in a supermarket should be toxic. Just go to your local Waitrose/whatever and get whatever they have.

Look for gels rather than liquids

Wilton food colouring gel. Don't buy the Dr Oetker liquid food colouring. They just don't work, and the colours are too pastel. To get a deeper colour you would need to add too much, then it changes the consistency of the cake mix.

Lakeland do good quality food colouring gels as well.
