I’ve impulse bought two boxes of taco shells and now have no idea how to serve them. So, inspire me please - what do you put in your tacos?

We do Spicy taco minced beef, pico de gallo, sweetcorn salsa, Guacamole, sour cream grated cheese, pickled jalapeño and loads of salad.

We've also done mexican beef and bean burgers using the taco shell in place of a bun Smile

Either chicken and veg fajita filling with salsa, guacamole and sour cream or mixed bean chilli with sour cream

Fish fingers. I though my OH was making it up until I googled it and actually realised that it’s a thing.

Veggies and halloumi stir fried with fajita seasoning. Really quick and tasty.

Taco quiche - whatever filling you’d usually put in a quiche but using the taco shells instead of pastry. They cook in @ 15 mins and freeze well, very handy for packed lunches.

My kids love this: soften a red onion in oil, add a pack of diced chorizo and a tsp of oregano and cook until the chorizo gives off it’s oil. Add mince and brown then add two can chopped tomatoes, season and simmer for about an hour until nice and thick. They all have grated cheese on top and DC1 also has salsa, guacamole and shredded lettuce. I know normally taco mince doesn’t have tomatoes in but this way the fussy ones get somewhere towards their five a day.

My kids don't really eat meat annoyingly so we do prawn tacos. I fry three or four onions in fry pan and then add some taco seasoning and water until they really cook down and just before serving I add the prawns. My kids love this strangely. They don't really like onions that much but cover them with taco seasoning and they love them. 🍤

We had tacos last night. We don’t eat a lot of meat so had small cubes roasted potatoes (add a little olive oil and cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper) our version of refried beans (couple of tins of kidney beans mashed and add the same spices and lime juice, heat in microwave), lettuce, salsa, soft and hard shells. My kids wolf it down.

Fish fingers or any fairly mild fish cut into fish finger shape, sprinkled with taco seasoning or Cholula sauce and a squeeze of lemon or lime then baked or fried.

I always warm the taco shells and always use the crunchy ones. Fish goes in first then a light sprinkle of grated mature Cheddar cheese, then lots of shredded iceberg lettuce. More cheese on top of that with a bit of salsa.

Some people prefer shredded cabbage but I like iceberg lettuce in tacos. Vegetarian mince cooked with taco seasoning and chopped tomatoes also works well.

We had salmon ones recently which I would make again. Usually have beef mince. For toppings I do iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, guacamole, sour cream and grated cheese. I prefer the crunchy shells but I get outvoted so we usually have the soft boat- shaped ones.

Dcs and dh have minced beef with taco seasoning and I have black beans and peppers. Then we have lettuce, tomato, cheese, soured cream and guacamole.

Thank you. We tried the fish finger idea tonight. Was a fun dinner! Personally, though, I am coming to the conclusion that I just prefer soft wraps to tacos whatever the filling.
