Does anyone have this and what do you think of it? I don't really understand how they work!

I never saw the point of them, but I was given the Touch Screen version & it's great.
Roughly chop veg, put in all ingredients, walk away & 30 minutes later soup's ready. I've used raw chicken & minced meat, & it's fine.
There are pre-set programmes for chunky or smooth soups, & the facility to control the process manually.

Today I made leek & potato soup. Chopped leeks and sweated off in a knob of butter, peeled and chopped potatoes, chucked in saucepan with leeks, poured in stock, simmered until cooked, slightly blitzed but still chunky, all done in 30 minutes. Why do you need a soupmaker ?

I'm with Namethecat. What can it do that a large saucepan and a blender can't?
