Best home coffee maker?

I'd like to make coffee at home for when I have friends over. I'm not a big coffee drinker but lots of my friends are. Would love to hear what anyone might recommend for a home coffee machine? I'm thinking a Bialetti at the moment although recently had Nespresso cappuccino at a friends and he used Aldi pods and it was delicious.

Your hob should be fine with either type, then.

Years ago, I can't remember when, there was a scare about danger from aluminium saucepans. It was quite unfounded, but somehow it stuck with me and I've never bought aluminium equipment since. Plus, they can't go in the dishwasher.
