1980’s chocolate button hedgehog cake

Does anyone have a recipe for a chocolate button hedgehog cake? My mum used to make me one when I was a child and I’d love to make one for my son’s birthday. I’ve looked on the internet but was hoping someone might have a recipe their mum had passed on. Thanks in advance!

I had one as child with flakes for spines. I am pretty sure it was in the Australian womens weekly book as we poured over that deciding on cakes on the lead up to every birthday.

You just make a chocolate sponge in a pudding bowl, then use the trimmings from making it flat for the face, then slather in chocolate buttercream made with cocoa powder. Then apply many buttons

There was a hilarious thread a couple of years ago charting someone's attempt at a Cadbury fingers version iirc. No help, but it was quite a masterpiece.

This recipe is from an M and S kids party book from 1980 that my mum gave me.

I dint think you need a recipe as such OP. Anything you make will be fab, surely?
