Hi had anyone made this for homemade salt and chilli chips??? I think they're referred to as salt and pepper chips in mainland uk.... Anyways has anyone got a tried and tested seasoning recipe. I've been eyeing up this one but it seems like a lot of salt 🤷‍♂️ hintofhelen.com/salt-and-pepper-chips/

I cheat now and use the pre bought seasoning by kmc foods. But I will say that if you want them like the takeaway they do need LOTS of salt. I have used this recipe for chicken too and it was fab so could easily be adapted for chipsSmile

🤤 Thanks ive heard home bargains are selling a tub of kerala salt pepper seasoning but I won't be there for a while so thought I would try at home 😁 yes I'm shocked at the salt content but it does what it says on the tin I guess 😂

I tried the recipe I linked to, using half the Chinese 5 spice (but following the rest to the letter) and it was delicious. I think the specified amount of 5 spice would have been to much but I find it quite an overpowering Flavour. Would use again but add more chilli because I like a bit of spice. Going to look at the suggested recipe for chicken 🤤 thank you for the suggestion. We used homemade chips 🍟

I used the Pinch of Nom recipe the other day and my husband said it was better than a takeaway 👍 I didn't use sweetener though, I used 1/6th the amount of sugar instead.

I grind and dry fry salt, Chinese all spice, white pepper and chilli flakes and a pinch of sugar (I just add as I go so not got measurements, but always turns out nice.

I work in a chinese takeaway. The recipe they use is Salt, sugar, chinese five spice, chilli powder, msg, pepper.

It's the mag missing 😂 I refuse it though. Do they use white or black pepper 😀 all recipes and input great fully received

I bought the home bargains seasoning last week and it was v tasty and authentic. I was doing salt n pepper chicken and added it to the deep fried chicken and fried onions etc in the pan towards the end. It was £1.20 for a pretty big tub. It does contain MSG though.

meg70 · 27/02/2020 18:49

....but so would most Chinese takeaways as far as I know.

I'm raging. I've not been able to find the home bargains stuff. I would buy it if i spotted it. However I won't go and buy msg just for this if that makes sense. Mmmmm. As a side note have you seen how much people are selling it for on ebay 😂 I'll definitely try my home recipe again with more chilli 🌶

Thanks so much I'll keep an eye out for it in the Asian market 😁😁 salt and chilli is both our favourites hence my minor obsession 😂 🤤
