Hi folks.
Now, I am a good good, but this question has always confused me - so apologies if it's a stupid one. I just genuinely don't know the answer.
Just after Xmas I bought a fresh turkey crown from the bargain shelf.
It was on its BB date, so obv went straight into the freezer.
SO, if the turkey instrictions say it takes eg 48 hours to defrost, doesn't that then put it past its BB timescale? Or is it only when it's fully thawed out that the clock "starts ticking" again, so to speak?

Also, how long will it really take to defrost in the fridge? I often find that things are still frozen solid when they instructions have stated they should be ready to use by then. I usually end up leaving them on the worktop, which I know isn't a great idea.

Secondly, how long will a 6 person steak pie take to defrost in the fridge?

Thanks so much

Unless you have a very warm kitchen, I would defrost on the worktop for 48 hrs before cooking. Don't worry about the BB date, just cook as soon as the bird is defrosted.
