Planning on making this for Sunday lunch tomorrow, but despite trying THREE supermarkets, couldn’t get any celeriac!!

Any suggestions on a substitution please?

Is it just for the topping instead of potato? Maybe parsnip, sweet potato or swede (or a mix of these).

I don't know the recipe but potato? Squash? You should be able to replace it with anything firm

Topbird29 · 01/02/2020 19:15

Just looked at recipe and see for one of veg in the bottom . Would suggest parsnip.

MadMadamMim123 · 01/02/2020 19:17

Thanks, it's for the filling so has a mash potato top... the filling already has swede and leeks in so I'm leaning towards butternut squash... but I'll admit I've not had celeriac before Blushso just worried with the swede it might be too sweet Confused

Turnip or swede

Tolleshunt · 01/02/2020 19:18

I’d sub celery and parsnip. I doubt it’s absolutely vital if it’s part of the overall meat mix. It’ll still taste lovely.

Cool thanks for the suggestions everyone Grin

Go easy on the cumin seeds too. I made that dish and it tasted like curry pie.

Frankier88 · 01/02/2020 19:32

You may have already checked, but I went through a phase of eating loads of celeriac last year, and the only supermarket that stocked it was Tesco

MadMadamMim123 · 01/02/2020 20:03

Thanks for the cumin tip Grin ooh I might manage a trip to Tesco in the morning then! Thanks!!
