Coarse loose leaf tea

I got myself some tea infusers but found my loose leaf tea came through it, so am looking for a more coarse brand.

Any recommendations please?

I don't know if you'll find traditional English type black tea in a large leaf. China tea and green teas, no problem.

Teapigs loose tea was pretty coarse when I used to buy it, although that was years ago.

Whittard's loose leaf teas tend to be on the coarser side. I especially recommend their Russian Caravan.

Thank you all. I am more excited about this than I should be! It's the small things, eh!

I like tea pigs everyday brew. Decent strong tea.

Try going for single teas rather than a blend, so Assam or Darjeeling instead of English Breakfast, which is a blend of different teas rather than one type of leaf so tends to be chopped much smaller. You can also then experiment with your own blends, I love half Assam half Darjeeling for breakfast and half earl grey half lapsang souchong in the afternoon. Yum!

Booo....popped into Tesco (not much choice around here) and got some Tesco Finest Assam and that's too fine as well.

I will use it as I do have an in-teapot infuser which has small holes, but the holes in the new in-cup ball strainers are larger.

I'm going into the Big City at the weekend so shall try and get something I can actually see the size of before I buy.

You need to find a Whittards or similar.

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 29/01/2020 09:03

Yes I think I do. There is one in Cambridge where I am going on Saturday.

Thank you

Brew tea is really coarse! And good. Sold in Waitrose and Holland and Barrett....

BlueChampagne · 03/02/2020 14:05

Too late this time, but there is also the tea stall on Cambridge Market on Wednesdays and Sundays. And Al Amin on Mill Road does coarse loose leaf tea in boxes.

So, I forgot entirely! I did remember at one point and then forgot again. Honestly....I need to get out more. I did get some new bed linen though.

But I picked up some Brew Tea (thank you salted) when I took ex-FIL to Waitrose yesterday. That stuff is certainly not falling out of my ball infuser, but it doesn't seem to be very strong.

Thanks for the recommendations Blue, I'll (try!) and remember next time I'm there.
