Regular cake to traybake?

Hello !

I want to make a number-one shaped cake for my daughter's birthday. I have a traybake tin and am going to cut out the shape but was wondering if I can use a regular cake recipe? I have a cake I have made before and the quantities sound similar to those of a traybake recipe.

Also I have noticed that traybakes seem to cook for 35 + mins whereas this normal layer cake is usually 20-25. Is this because of the shape? Should I expect to bake mine for longer than usual?

Thank you!!!
