Brace friendly food!

DD had her braces fixed a couple of days ago, I realise it’s still early days and dd is feeling a little despondent as she feels unable to tuck into her favourite foods. Probably misses biting into a caramel wafer bar! She loves her food and is actually a good eater & will eat almost anything except soft cheese and isn’t a lover of yogurts.

So am I right in thinking she can eat the things she did before the braces, apart from the obvious like toffees & hard things, like biscuits etc. I know apples need to be cut up first. I just want to reassure her that she’s not limited to mash potato & rice & spaghetti hoops for the foreseeable future!

I had braces. It will take a few weeks to adjust to having them. A bit or trial and error for bit. Lay of the hard foods for a few days but everything will settle down. The pain can happen a few days after fitting so have pain killers ready

We were told for DD nothing too hard or chewy
Carrot sticks needed to be thinner, apples and anything she needed to bite hard into had to be small pieces
Was painful chewing first few days, then barely noticed any huge differences in what she ate tbh
They came off last month and combination various braces 18months and first thing she ate was an applefollowed by stick chewing gum!!

My daughter had braces for just over 2 years and the only thing she couldn't eat was apples unless they were cut up. She even had chewing gum! Maybe we were just lucky?
