Would this stew be weird without any spice?

Got this recipe adapted for the slow cooker. It would be for whole family including toddler so can't really have any chilli (neither really stand for it). Would it be weird without chilli? I'm worried it'll just taste of peanut-butter! Should be fine to include the fresh ginger.

I'd include the cayenne but if you're worried about toddler then switch the scotch bonnet to normal (thick) red chillis which are much milder and will give warmth. You could also put a dollop of yoghurt on the table/on the toddler's serving.

So I made it as myrtle suggested - 1/2 tsp of Cayenne from the recipe and approx 70% of one normal red chilli! It was great and had a nice small amount of warmth. I still mixed it with yoghurt for the kids - one had a couple of bites and declared he didn't like it and the 2yo wouldn't even try it

Lots left for us at least! It's quite filling!
