Anchovies

I've just used half a tin in a large beef casserole.

Any ideas what I can do with the rest ? I've tried freezing in the past, but that didn't work, & I hate wasting food.

Put in a pan with a good glut of olive oil, some garlic and lots of cherry tomatoes. Cook over a really low heat for about 20 mins til the tomatoes go soft. Stir through pasta, with lots of seasoning and fresh basil. Is one of my favourite meals ever- super simple and quick but absolutely amazing and fresh tasting

I seem to use anchovies all the time. Pasta puttanesca. Mmm. Also, Jamie Oliver’s fish raging from 15 Minute Meals uses anchovies and is lovely. Also salade nicoise.

Tagine not raging!

Second @Artesia suggestion. Love that. I like adding some chopped black olives too.

Or melt with butter, garlic and chilli, stir in some cooked broccoli and pasta. An absolute fav in this house.

Think it was pasta puttanesca I was thinking about too. So delicious. Hungry now!

Get some crusty bread and butter and squish them on like they were pate. Mmmmmm.....

Is it unreasonable to hide this thread because Anchovies are the food of the devil?

RickOShay · 07/01/2020 19:28

Use them in the sauce for a fish pie. Really adds flavour.

Toasted focaccia, drizzled in olive oil, and topped with chopped tomatoes, garlic, ricotta cheese and your 'choves. HEAVEN.

Eat them straight from the tin!Grin
If that's not quite your thing though, melt a few in olive oil, stir though spaghetti with a lot of black pepper, quickest ever pasta dish.
Caesar salad, with chicken to make it more of a meal.

In future though, buy the jars, easier to keep and they last forever.

Some great ideas, thanks everyone.
