Dry brining turkey

Has anyone tried this rather than a wet brine? I keep seeing recipes for it but wonder if it would be very salty.

I dry brined for thanksgiving this year. It made lovely turkey but the drippings in the pan were very salty and I had to dilute by a lot to make the gravy. I followed this recipe to make the gravy and it came out nicely, and I had leftover drippings for the next day to make bubble and squeak.
