Do you stick to the same old cheeses each year or do you try new ones out?
Tell me the ones you love the most.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned finely sliced apples, pears and cornichons! By far the best accompaniments.

neomneomneom · 22/12/2019 23:42

Morbier and, if you're brave, Stinking Bishop. Good crackers and Stokes' fig pickle ... heaven ❤️

anxioussue · 22/12/2019 23:55

Y fenni

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 22/12/2019 23:58

Brie, Stilton, mature cheddar, Lancashire and some shit with apricots in that get a brought every year!
Leave me with dolcelatte and water biscuits and I'll be there all night.

MrsTumbletap · 23/12/2019 08:52

@PoultryBallot why do they bring these amazing things in, get us hooked, then take them away? Gahhh!

Another cheese I like is that swirly garlic one, no idea what's it's called but it's orange and white, from the deli, it lovely.

LesLavandes · 23/12/2019 12:44

Vacherin

Luckingfovely · 23/12/2019 12:57

Yes Vacherin the best cheese in the world!

MarshaBradyo · 23/12/2019 13:01

I’m a fan of Cambozola these days

fairydustandpixies · 23/12/2019 13:07

Briddlesford Cheddar and Blue Slipper. Yum!

QuickstepQueen · 23/12/2019 14:28

Usually make a trip to Neal's Yard in London Bridge and taste a few. I can never remember the names - at a minimum we go hard, soft and blue - often with a sheep's milk too.

SweetPeaPods · 23/12/2019 15:02

We have a mature cheddar, Comte, lots of Brie, Brie with chilli, 2x goats cheese, 2x smoked cheddar and a local blue cheese (Cropwell bishop). It won’t all go out together.

MarshaBradyo · 23/12/2019 15:04

The cheese shops in our high st had queues down the street. I’m going tomorrow, early. It’s nuts out there.

MotherofPearl · 23/12/2019 17:31

This year I've gone for a huge wedge of Comte (my favourite cheese), a goats' milk brie, a black bomber cheddar and a (new to me) Harrogate blue. I can't wait!

RhythimIsRhythim · 23/12/2019 18:23

Roquefort

crustycrab · 23/12/2019 18:29

Black bomber (obviously)
Mexicana
Double Gloucester with chives
Wensleydale with cranberry
Brie

BestIsWest · 23/12/2019 18:31

We have strong and mild cheddar, Edam (because I loved it as a child),
Stilton, Brie, a mild blue (can’t remember which) ,a creamy goats cheese, Boursin.
And probably half a dozen other random ones that DH has picked up elsewhere (he only eats the mild cheddar and Brie).

Last year we all got flu and I had to throw the lot out.

MrsGrindah · 23/12/2019 18:40

Can I chip in with the extras?
So a nice pickle, cornichons, grapes , baby pickled silver skin onions, oat crackers, Christmas cake.

QuickstepQueen · 23/12/2019 19:25

Extras - Bath Olivers, Carrs Table water, oat biscuits, sometimes the charcoal version. Home made chutney this year but otherwise semi-dried figs and a good honey.

FenellaVelour · 23/12/2019 20:39

This year my husband was in charge of the cheese and we have:

Strong English Cheddar
Dorset Blue Vinny
Russet Squire washed rind Brie
Baking Camembert with walnut, cranberry and orange liqueur

Biscuits, part baked bread, butter, fig jam.

I think he did a good job 😊

VeryMerryChristmas · 23/12/2019 20:47

We’ve got...

Camembert (to be baked)
Cambezola
Stilton
Brie
Smoked cheddar (DCs love)
Wensleydale with cranberries (for DH)

Can’t stand anything goaty or sheepy. Might pop out for a herby soft cheese and another blue tomorrow.

We’ve also got assorted crackers, part bake baguettes to bake with the Camembert, red onion chutney, grapes and posh crisps. I’m now craving some pickles!
