Why don't I learn? For the past two years,I have attempted to make the DD'S a themed birthday cake & on each occasion, have had to do a last minute dash to the supermarket after it all goes horribly wrong.

I think I had a fluke on dd1's 2nd birthday & made a pretty good princess cake {a la'toilet roll cover stylee},which went down very well. After this,I must have imagined that I had a talent for cake making/decorating & got too ambitious. My latest effort is a failed volcano, which was meant to be decorated with strawberry sweet strips for lave & plastic dinosaurs, but I couldn't get it pointy enough. It resembles a molehill rather than a flaming volcano & is currently hidden under a teatowel in the kitchen, whilst I decide an appropriate end for it.

Can some kind person remind me,towards the end of May & August next year, that it will be cheaper & quicker all round if I just buy one instead?

lol FG. We went to a party recently where my friend had spent ages making her dd's 'peppa pig' cake. At which my ds said (a little too loudly), "mummy, a cake with a cow on it!!!"
Well done you for trying I say.

Oh PMSL FG oh DEAR!

Volcanoes are not especially pointy. some are quite dipped in at the top! You could get away with this.
