Help School treacle sponge

Who else remembers in school the treacle sponge? It had an inch thick of treacle at the bottom.. I've been craving this for ages now and cannot for the life of me find a recipe for it!!!

What about the one in a tin?

Do you have a child at primary school? Send a note to the kitchen and ask for the recipe. I have done this when the children wanted me to make the chocolate shortbread biscuit that they love at school. The kitchen staff were quite happy to oblige me with the recipe they use.

Butter a glass bowl, put a load of golden syrup in the bottom. Then put in some sponge mixture, cover with cling film and micro wave for 3-4 min if not cooked through pop on for a minute or so more
Turn out onto a plate - there you go

Do you mean treacle or syrup? I occasionally make microwave syrup pudding (mix 1 egg and equivalent weight of flour, sugar and butter in a bowl, stir in a few sultanas if you like those, then pour in a few tbsp of syrup) and microwave for 3-4 mins. It's basically a mug cake but I find it's less likely to overflow in a bowl.

It was a really thick sponge with a really thick kind of treacle at the bottom. Wasnt syrup. I remember in school asking the teacher to scrape the treacle of the bottom of the tin Haha! Good idea to who said about sending a note into school. I'll check if they still make it.

it is syrup.it mixes with some of the spnge mixture as it cooks but its deff syrup to start with.
