Hi,
Making my sons christening cake in a few weeks. I want to make a fondant elephant for the top.

Now- so I make the pieces separately and glue straight away- or once dry?
And how far in advance is best to make it? I want it to have dried out a bit first don't i?

Thanks

You need to buy some petal paste. I find if you mix it into the fondant it makes it firm enough to set. It needs to be made a few days at least. Might be wise to make it a week in advance. Gives you time if you aren’t happy with it. Have you got a good book to copy from? Try you tube, library etc good luck. I love making Christening Cakes. I thought I was past doing them was invited to a friends baby’s Christening. I offered to make the cake as my present and they were delighted with the result.

Ahhh thank you so much!
I've found a video on YouTube to copy for the elephant.

Yeah I only make them for family / friends really- I enjoy it but only occasionally ha.
I will invest in some petal paste and start with plenty of time in case it goes wrong
Thanks again
