Please Help! White Bloom on my preserved fruit

I've made some preserved fruit using this recipe as it's a family favourite (but I've never made them before and the person who used to make them has passed away) and was going to be a little additional gift at Christmas.

I did them about 2 weeks ago, was about to put them in the loft to save them for Christmas (I have a tidy loft with work surfaces) #proud Grin
but I've noticed a white bloom on some of the fruit and some brown spots (although these might have already been there)
Have I done something wrong? Is this normal? Should I have filled the jars right to the top with no air? Will I have to scrap them and start again Sad
Any advice gratefully received.
