muddaofsuburbia · 24/09/2004 16:19

Found it!! It's a WeightWatchers recipe!! Also found an evil one in a Cadbury's cookbook. House viewer coming any minute, so will post the sordid recipes later

SoupDragon · 24/09/2004 17:24

I can recommend 1 tub of marscapone cheese, 1 bar of plain chocolate. Melt chocolate, add marscapone. Add brandy if you like. I'm sure if you kept it warm it would work like a fondue and it also sets into a fab chocolate mousse.

SoupDragon · 24/09/2004 17:24

You can, of course, use lower fat marscapone...

muddaofsuburbia · 24/09/2004 17:58

Right - here's the angelic weightwatchers recipe
2.5 points per serving
10 pts/recipe
Serves 4
130 Cals/serving

Choccy sauce:
3 tsp cornflour
4 tsp cocoa powder
300 ml (1/2 pint) skimmed milk
artificial sweetener to taste
a few drops of vanilla essence
2 tbsp half fat single cream

Dip
2 small bananas
8 strawberries, halved
1 pear, in wedges
2 fresh pineapple rings, in chunks
8 cherries
a little lemon juice
fresh mint leaves to garnish (oh I say!)

OR Replace the cream with a scoop of soft vanilla ice cream, leaving it to melt in the warm sauce. Add 1/2 Point/serving.

Yum

Evil Cadbury's Recipe:

200g (8 oz) Bournville plain chocolate
80 ml (4 tbsp) Fresh orange juice
1 small can evaporated milk, chilled
grated rind of 1/2 an orange
fruit to dip

Melt the chocolate, broken into squares, with the orange juice and 60ml (3 tbsp) of the evap. milk in a fondue dish, or in a bowl over a pan of water.
Stir occasionally until smooth.
Whisk the remaining evap. milk until it is quite thick then fold into the chocolate mixture.
Return to the heat and keep warm.

muddaofsuburbia · 24/09/2004 18:04

Finally here's one with a twist

225g (8oz) plain choc in small pieces
300ml (1/2 pint) double cream
30ml (2 tbsp) Grand Marnier
25g (1oz) butter, diced
fruit to dip.

Drool drool drool...

anorak · 24/09/2004 18:37

KateandtheGirls · 24/09/2004 19:38

There's a restaraunt near me called "The Melting Pot". It's a fondue restaraunt. You get 4 courses.

  1. Traditional cheese fondue, with bread and apples to dip.

  2. A salad. (Got to try and be healthy, right?)

  3. Various raw meats, seafood and veggies with either oil or some sort of seasoned broth to cook it in, with lots of dipping sauces for when it's cooked.

  4. Chocolate fondue. Milk or dark chocolate. Add a shot of liquor. I particularly like dark chocolate with Grand Marnier. Strawberries, bananas, pound cake, cheesecake, marshmallows and brownies to dip.

I love this place!

Kayleigh · 25/09/2004 20:04

oh wow K&tG, cheesecake and chocolate fondue. Sounds like my idea of heaven. I'll be on the next plane
