Easiest yet most impressive bake? Quick!

Dh has just informed he has a cake competition at work....tomorrow!
What is the easiest yet most impressive cake we could make tonight?
I’ve tried to convince him to go for Nigellas Nutella cheesecake but he thinks it looks rich 🙄

Lemon drizzle I think ... totally delicious but not complicated.

I'd go for something like this. It's just a chocolate sponge baked in a traybake tray underneath. Easy, but looks fun.

Pavlova, always a winner!

Probably too late, but nigella's Guiness cake is easy, delicious and quite impressive - especially for men!

A layered chocolate cake.

250g butter, caster sugar and self raising flour. 4 eggs. I tsp baking powder 2 tbsp each of hot choc and cocoa. Splash of milk. Combine and bake at 180 for 40 to 60 mins.

Slice each cake into half. Sandwich together with chocolate butter icing. Decorate the top either with a sprinkling of icing sugar or some raspberries.

Literally couldn't be easier.

Brazilian Carrot Cake. It is delicious and very easy, everything just goes in a blender. And the icing is divine.

Nutella cheesecake is impressive and so easy to do because there’s no baking required!

Know it’s too late now but a colleague made a fabulous chai and coconut tray bake, BBC good food.

So obviously I sent him down to the shops to buy his own bloody cake!

Thanks for the suggestions though. Got me wanting cake now. Shall I just make the cheesecake anyway?!
