Pork ribs

Hi, we are looking to cook some racks of pork ribs for a big family dinner this weekend (about 10 of us).

We normally buy them from Tesco and they're fine but small. They cost £4 per pack for about 500G. We normally buy 3 packs for our family of 4.

I thought I would contact our butcher to see if he sold them, he said he charges £20 per rack of 12 ribs. I don't know why these are so pricey? When I said we need about 6 or 7 packs for a family of 10 he said that's a lot of food and recommended 3 packs. They won't have them in the shop till Friday, which doesn't leave me much time as family arrive Sat morning!

Has anyone bought ribs from a butcher and know if they are considerably bigger than supermarkets? I'm happy to pay if they are or do I just not risk it and get what we know from the supermarket?

Thanks

Before the village I grew up in got a Chinese takeaway the butcher gave them away.

Take the butcher's word for it. They're very experienced and know their products.
