Hello fresh/gousto

My friend gets one of these food boxes and claims it is helping her save money and reduce waste as she only buys what she uses. She really raves about it. I have always thought it was quite expensive and maybe a bit gimmicky but would be keen to use if it's easy and cost efficient, does anyone use and recommend? Thanks

We use Gousto and really like it.

If you use this code you can get 60% off to try a box x

I've tried hello fresh in the past and while we did enjoy the food, we found it to be expensive, about £6 per meal per person. We could go to a local takeaway and pay that, although that would be more unhealthy I guess. If you have the money for it, the meals were tasty and easy to cook!

I found Gousto had more choice and was cheaper than HelloFresh, though I found Hellofresh healthier.

It worked for me when I had the time and space. I didn't go shopping, so everything I needed/spent was in the box. Saved a lot of random supermarket purchases.

Also it got me cooking a wider variety of meals and much better. I learnt how to make a lot of stuff I would never have cooked.

If you can already cook and shop on a budget, then it's unlikely to make any difference to you, other than the ease of it being delivered to your door.

It is more expensive than the equivalent in the supermarket but it gives new recipes to try & it is less waste because you only get sent what you use for the recipe.
When you have 60% off etc it does work out quite cheap, I got my first two gousto boxes, four meals for four people and it was less than £20 per box because of discount codes & credit from a friend using my code.

I forgot to say that we plan on using gousto for one box a month. Two meals for two people as a way of giving us new recipes to try as we do tend to get stuck in a rut when it comes to dinners!

We use Gousto and it works for us. Four nights each week we don't have to worry about meal planning. Recipes are almost always delicious.

I don't think we spend any more than we used to.

(Also tried Simply cook but with that you have to buy the ingredients; they only provide the spices. There's no note of what is in the spices so could find that what you make is too spicy, not spicy enough, too strong or whatever. And you can't duplicate it whereas you can with Gousto)

Your friend can’t budget.
