I’m wondering what to with the little buggers (for DS - I don’t eat them).

And quick and dirty recipes please?

Fried in lots of garlic & butter, served in the butter with french bread

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 17:44

No garlic in the house!

Prawn and pea risotto or omelette?

pallisers · 19/08/2019 17:47

I'd do like nancy said but I also like this recipe

1 pound Penne Or Mostaciolli, Cooked Al Dente
1 pound prawns - or however many you have
1 oz Butter
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Diced Onion
2 cloves Garlic, Minced
Glug of White Wine
1 can Tomato Sauce/crushed tomatoe (8 Oz)
Cream
Salt To Taste
Pepper To Taste
Fresh Basil Leaves
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat butter and oil in a large pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add the prawns and cook for a couple minutes, stirring, until just opaque. Remove them from heat and let them cool for a few minutes. When cool enough to handle, slice the shrimp in half (or chop them if you prefer) and set them aside.

To the same pan, add the onion and garlic and sauté, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes. After the garlic Pour in the wine and let it reduce for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. (If you would rather not use wine, you can use low-sodium chicken broth or seafood broth instead.)

Add the tomato sauce and stir well until combined. Cook for 3 minutes, then stir in the cream. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add the prawns then turn heat down to low and let simmer for a couple of minutes.

Stir in the pasta, then add torn basil on top and serve!

Can add Parmesan cheese if desired.

you could do the above without the garlic.

I also do a prawn curry which is just loads of fried onions, add couple of tablespoons of patak mild curry paste and fry with the onions. Add 2 cans of coconut milk and simmer. At the end add in the chopped prawns and cook until done. It is a great easy curry.

Egg and prawn fried rice. I put onions peas and soy sauce in. Delicious

stucknoue · 19/08/2019 17:57

They are nice in an omelette, serve with rice and drizzle with soy sauce (add spring onions if you have them to the omelette). Alas most of my prawn suggestions involve garlic!

Star8181 · 19/08/2019 18:50

Nigella’s prawn spaghettini - spring onion in a pan, chilli flakes, sundried tomatoes, rocket, prawns. Cook spaghetti in separate pan. Serve together. We eat this so much in our house, it’s delicious!

whifflesqueak · 19/08/2019 18:51

No garlic in the house!?

There’s no helping you then.

I love it myself but it is bad for someone else here. Someone who has no willpower! I also hide my chocolate..

Butter. Salt and pepper. Chilli if you've got any. Apply to face.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 19:00

Face?
