Just tried it and I'm at a loss as to how Mumsnet has said it's good!

It smells and tastes just like cheap marge from the 80s.

Also, the fat content has gone up from 45% to 70%!!

It has 619 calories per 100g instead of 403, as the old one had.

How can this be an improvement?? And yes it's now vegan, but they make a dairy-free variety already.

The cynic in me thinks they've just trotted out the same stuff they did a few years ago, but have taken out the buttermilk to be on trend. And therefore it's far cheaper to produce.

Has anyone found a decent alternative please?

As a vegan I absolutely hate it, it smells awful and tastes just like you say. I use a variety of vegan spreads and all are better than this, I won't buy it again.

My decent alternative is butter !

A completely natural product, no nasty chemicals, & far superior to any artificial grease I've ever tasted.

BTW, c.744 kcal per 100g; so the quantity to spread on a slice of bread is very little different if weight-watching is a problem.

I love it and the fact is doesn’t contain cow pus makes it even better!!

I had only tried their dairy free one about a year ago and I didn’t like it. Vitalite is good if you want/need no dairy.

Otherwise real butter all the way
