Best chocolate cake recipe

I'd love to make dh a lovely chocolate cake tomorrow for his birthday- any recommendations for lovely and straightforward recipes?

P.s has the baking thread gone?!

Make a sponge using plain flour with 1 tsp baking power for each egg and the same weight of melted plain choc added at the butter/sugar stage.
Separate the eggs and whisk the whites to fold in. If a little dry add a tbsp of milk for each egg yolk when adding them.

2 eggs does a 10"x7" tin.
