Toffee cake recipe?

I used to buy the most gorgeous toffee cake from my local baker.

I would love to recreate it but as cupcakes. Does anyone have a good recipe please? I have searched the internet and can't find anything! Thanks.

Presume you're not after a sticky toffee cake recipe as obviously there's loads of recipes for those.

Can you explain a bit more about the type of cake it was from the butcher - shape, iced, plain, nutty, sandwich type, loaf, layered etc.
